Jusepe de Ribera’s Head of San Gennaro is a painting I had stumbled upon during one of my many dives down the tumblr rabbit holes. We halftoned it to make the painting into a grid pixelated-like plaid. This saint and the rituals of liquefaction associated plus the fact his head and body as relics were held in separate places are reason enough. But, I do have some trauma having lived in the lower east side where the feast in his name takes over and prevents you from doing anything on time for at least a week every September.
